How To Match your Foundation to your Skin Tone

The task of choosing a new foundation can be daunting for even the most seasoned beauty buff. Medium or full coverage? Matt or dewy? Powder or liquid? It usually involves a Saturday morning scouring the  beauty counters of your local department store and your poor cheeks resembling a kaleidoscope of colour choices. However, this is where we’re going wrong. For the perfect shade don’t match foundation on your face. Match it on your chest or your shoulders.

Your selfie skills can come in handy when it comes to choosing the perfect shade .Put a singlet top on and take a selfie, putting your chin to your shoulder, with flash and without flash.  Your face and body should be the same colour, so if you use sunless tanners, you should darken your foundation.

Once you’ve passed the selfie test, buff and polish the foundation into your skin for a seamless application. Remember it’s not about covering; too much coverage is not a good thing. If you can physically see any form of foundation, then it’s wrong.
